Frederick Harris (1866-1945) devoted his life to music publishing. He began his career in England working for a large music publishing firm. In 1904, he set up his own business in London and established a Canadian office in 1910. This move marked the beginning of a long association with The Royal Conservatory of Music and resulted in an increased emphasis on publications for teaching and learning.
Of special importance this year is the launch of the much anticipated Celebration Series Perspectives®, the fourth edition of this renowned piano series. The Celebration Series® was first published in 1987 to international acclaim. Subsequent editions have built on this success: Celebration Series®, The Piano Odyssey® (2001) in particular tapped into the wealth of new repertoire available at the dawn of the new millennium, and took into account the changing interests and needs of teachers. This achievement was recognized when Frederick Harris Music received the 2007 MTNA - Frances Clark Keyboard Pedagogy Award for the Celebration Series®.
In the coming years, Frederick Harris Music looks forward to building on a growing international profile, launching new editions of highly renowned publications for guitar, voice, violin, and piano, and continuing to publish new music by North America’s leading pedagogical composers. The staff of Frederick Harris Music remain dedicated to providing music teachers and their students with publications of the highest quality. Working with established music retailers, we look forward to bringing you the best in materials for teaching and learning.
